Background and Biography:

On July 1, 1981, after working as a senior accountant for Tofias, Fleishman, Shapiro & Co., CPAs and subsequently as the corporate controller of the John S. Cheever Co., a chain of retail stores doing business as Paperama, Andy Freedman began the accounting firm of Andrew M. Freedman, Certified Public Accountant.

Now in its 28th year, the firm services both business and individual clients. Business clients include retailers, distributors, professionals, service organizations, and not for profit organizations in diverse industries including apparel, electronics, entertainment, and real estate.

Andy holds a B.A. degree in economics (cum laude) from the University of Massachusetts, an M.B.A. degree (with highest distinction) from Babson College, and a Master of Science degree in Taxation from Bentley College, where he was selected as a recipient of that program's academic achievement award. He is a veteran of 4 years of active duty in the United States Air Force.

Andy is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA). Andy augments his professional education by regularly completing in excess of the 80-hour requirement for continuing professional education every two years. Beginning in 1991, the firm began undergoing peer reviews by other CPA firms every three years. In all cases the firm received the highest level of report on those reviews.

Andy is currently the treasurer of the Pride of Boston Cemetery Association and is a past treasurer of the Jewish Cemetery Association of Massachusetts.

Since 1973, Andy has been married to Pamela (Chonin) Freedman, a middle school Language Arts Teacher. Pam and Andy have lived in Needham since 1977 and have been blessed with a wonderful marriage and 3 bright, healthy, and beautiful children.
